Paula and Don Guerrein
Grandparents
My Grandparents Paula and Don had many entrepreneurial endeavors throughout their lifetimes. Opening a local bookstore in Erie — The Bookworm — in 1970. My late Grandfather Don was also the founder of Presque Isle Partnership. “the idea for this partnership began in 1989 and continued through 1993. The whole concept became a glimmer in the eyes of Don Guerrein, a daily visitor to the park, and a few other regulars.” “[in] 1994, the Presque Isle Partnership was established, and a board of directors was created. Don Guerrein was appointed Executive Director. Monthly meetings were held at the Stull Center, and Don used a small room there as his office.” “In 1996, the Partnership opened a small gift shop in what Don was using as his office within the Stull Center. “one of Erie's enterprising and successful young business men”, “Carl C. Guerrein has always lived in Erie. After attending the public schools he engaged in business with his father. Leopold Guerrein

“Leo Guerrein was born in Germany in 1868 and came to this country in 1892, locating in Erie. He established a wholesale cheese business in 1895 at 2509 Peach Street, where the business was located until 1916, at which time it was moved to 1014 Holland Avenue. On December 16, 1916, Mr. Guerrein retired from business. He resides at 2509 Peach Street.
